What should a Drain CCTV Survey and Report include?

We constantly talk about Drain CCTV surveys and their importance, but what should you expect as part of a drainage CCTV survey and report?

A full drainage report should include the following elements:

• Invert levels of accessible manholes
• Pipe diameters
• Material of pipe
• Usage of drain. i.e. storm or foul
• Direction of flow
• Length of drain
• Any connections, water levels and observations within each drain run noted
• Images of each observation included within the report
• A plan should be included which manholes labelled in conjunction with the report. This plan could be a general plan or to scale. Alternatively it could be produced in AutoCAD by amending an existing version or creating a new one from scratch.
• A findings/conclusion page should also be included within the report detailing findings, observations and any recommendations
• A DVD with the full report, images and videos of each drain run and observations

A full report should allow you to understand where your drains are, which direction they flow, how big they are and at what depth. The report should also highlight any areas of concern such as damage, dips in the pipe or general defects with any recommendations to repair these.

Although the findings should include all defects, it should also detail which ones are actually a concern, or causing an issue. Not all defects actually need repairing.

Please note that all CCTV surveys should meet WRC water standards so that they meet water authorities and councils requirements.
